PHILADELPHIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 9, 2005--ACE USA, the U.S.-based retail operating division of The ACE Group of Companies, today announced that Carl L. Bach has been named Executive Vice President of ACE Global Solutions reporting into John Lupica, President and COO. Based in Philadelphia, Mr. Bach will be responsible for setting and driving the overall strategic direction for ACE USA's new Global Solutions business operations, which will concentrate on delivering ACE USA's products and services to U.S. multi-national companies. Mr. Bach will strive to engage and enhance the use of ACE's extensive global reach and capabilities to maximize utilization of the ACE global platform to deliver worldwide insurance solutions.

Mr. Bach joined ACE Europe in April 2001 as Senior Vice President for UK & Ireland Property & Casualty Operations and assumed the position of President in July 2003 with general management responsibility for all UK & Ireland operations. Mr. Bach is Deputy Chairman of the IUA (the International Underwriting Association), the London market trade association for international insurance and reinsurance companies. Mr. Bach is also a member of the Chartered Insurance Institute's London Market Faculty Board of Directors. Mr. Bach began his career as an underwriting trainee in 1974 in New York City. He moved to the UK in 1976 and has spent the past 25 years in various underwriting and senior management positions in the London and European insurance markets.

Mr. Bach graduated from St. Joseph's University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in international relations and he received an MBA from the Thunderbird Graduate School of International Management.
