ACE Appoints Matt Niemeyer Senior Vice President for Government Affairs; Paul Neuriter Appointed Vice President for International Government Affairs

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 10, 2006--The ACE Group of Companies announced today that Matt Niemeyer has been appointed Senior Vice President for Government Affairs, with responsibility for leading the ACE Group's Washington, D.C. office. In addition, Paul Neuriter has been appointed Vice President for International Government Affairs, reporting to Mr. Niemeyer. 
 

Mr. Niemeyer joins ACE from the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR), where he served as Assistant USTR for Congressional Affairs and led the USTR's efforts to seek Congressional passage of the Central American Free Trade Agreement. In addition, he directed the legislative strategy for the successful passage of free trade agreements with Chile, Singapore, Australia, Morocco and Bahrain.

Mr. Neuriter also joins ACE from the USTR, where he served as Senior Director for China. Prior to that position Mr. Neuriter was an Economic Officer with the U.S. Embassy in Beijing. Earlier he served in the U.S. State Department's Office of Chinese Affairs, as well as in several positions with the U.S. Embassy in Papua New Guinea.

Prior to joining the Office of the USTR, Mr. Niemeyer served as deputy political director of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee. He also served as the manager of grassroots programs for the Independent Insurance Agents of America, and as a legislative assistant and political consultant for House Rules Committee Chairman Gerald B. Solomon.

Mr. Niemeyer has spent much of his career in government affairs, working in two elections for the National Republican Congressional Committee and as a staff assistant in the state office of U.S. Senator John McCain, R-Arizona.
