ACE USA Appoints Michael Harnett as Senior Vice President, Mid-Atlantic Region for ACE Risk Management

PHILADELPHIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--ACE USA, the U.S.-based retail operating division of the ACE Group of Companies, today announced it has appointed Michael Harnett to the position of Senior Vice President, Mid-Atlantic Region for ACE Risk Management® (ARM). Based in Philadelphia, Mr. Harnett will oversee ARM branch operations in the Mid-Atlantic Region, working with brokers in managing new business development and underwriting activities, and serving middle and large account customers.

Mr. Harnett adds this new responsibility to his current role as Senior Vice President, National Excess Workers Compensation Unit, ARM, where he has overall responsibility for overseeing new business development and underwriting activities for products that provide risk management solutions to employers who qualify for self insurance. In this role, he will continue to report to William Curcio, President, ACE Risk Management.

This appointment acknowledges Mikes accomplishments and successful track record in managing the excess workers compensation unit in this evolving and competitive marketplace, said Ken Riegler, Executive Vice President, ACE Risk Management. Mikes prior experience in serving the large-risk arena and broadening relationships with brokers and clients make him well-suited to support ARMs continued growth in the Mid-Atlantic region.

Mr. Harnett joined ACE USA from PMA Insurance Group in November 2004, where he previously served as Vice President, Risk Management Services with responsibility for all aspects of its large account underwriting operation. With more than 22 years of experience in the insurance field, Mr. Harnett has held a variety of underwriting management positions with major carriers including Royal & SunAlliance, CNA and an ACE subsidiary. Mr. Harnett received both his Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy and a Master of Science degree in Public Management/Public Policy from State University of New York, Stony Brook.
