NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--ACE Life Insurance Company, doing business as ACE Tempest Life Re USA, announced today that it has named Jim Gibbs as Vice President and Chief Underwriting Officer and Bruce Horton as Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer.
Both positions are effective immediately, and both executives will report directly to Ron Colligan, President and Chief Operating Officer, ACE Tempest Life Re USA.

Mr. Gibbs joins the Company from Optimum Reinsurance Company in Dallas, where he was Senior Vice President, Underwriting. His previous experience includes positions at SCOR Life US Re in Dallas and Munich American Reinsurance in Atlanta. He is a past president of the Southeastern Home Office Underwriters Association, and he has been a speaker at many industry gatherings, addressing both underwriting and actuarial groups on various topics. Mr. Gibbs received his artium baccalaureus degree in English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a master of liberal arts degree from Southern Methodist University in Dallas. He holds a Fellow, Life Management Institute accreditation with a selection of risks specialty.
Mr. Horton joins the Company following a long career in the insurance industry, encompassing responsibilities in marketing, underwriting, and administration in the primary, reinsurance and insurance industries. His previous positions include Vice President, Marketing, at Transamerica Re; Chief Operating Officer, Old Republic Life Insurance Company; and Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, Osborne Laboratories. Mr. Horton received a bachelor of science degree from Michigan State University and a master of business administration degree from Wayne State University. He holds a Fellow, Life Management Institute accreditation.
