ACE Limited Shareholders Approve 7% Increase in Quarterly Dividend; Board Declares Record Date for First Installment
May 21, 2009

ZURICH, Switzerland--(BUSINESS WIRE)--ACE Limited (NYSE:ACE) announced today that its shareholders have approved all matters submitted to the ACE Limited 2009 Annual General Meeting, held at the company’s offices in Zurich, Switzerland, including a 7% increase to the company’s quarterly dividend to $1.24 annually ($0.31 per quarter) from $1.16.

The dividend approval provides for an annual par value reduction of 1.36 Swiss francs (CHF), equal to $1.24 per share, payable in four installments. However, the actual CHF amount of each installment will be adjusted up or down to equal $0.31 near the time of payment, subject to an aggregate cap for the four installments of CHF 2.04. This new formula will have the effect of making the U.S. dollar (USD) value of the company’s dividend distributions more consistent.

In addition, the Board of Directors declared that shareholders of record at the close of business on July 28, 2009, will be entitled to payment of the first of such installments, subject to a required filing with the Swiss Commercial Register. Dividend payments will be made in USD on August 10, 2009, by the company’s transfer agent. The company’s par value is currently CHF 32.84 per share, and in connection with the dividend, the par value per share will be reduced by the CHF equivalent of $0.31 based on the USD/CHF rate published on July 23, 2009.
