PHILADELPHIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--ACE USA, the U.S.-based retail operating division of the ACE Group, today announced that William P. Hazelton, Senior Vice President, ACE Environmental Risk, received Risk & Insurancemagazine’s 2009 Risk Innovators award in the publication’s Construction category. This coveted award recognizes those individuals who have advanced innovation within their own organizations—and in the insurance industry—while achieving excellence in risk management. Mr. Hazelton and Gerald J. Rojewski, Vice President, ACE Casualty Risk, who also worked to create this product, were recognized for their efforts in creating the ACE Green CPLSM product, a Contractors Pollution Liability program, which helps contractors address exposures created by green commercial construction projects.
“We’re proud of the innovation and creativity that Bill and Gerry displayed in developing and launching this cutting edge product offering, which responds to the growing emphasis on green construction,” said Christopher Maleno, President, ACE Casualty Risk. “Not only was this product launch supported by our teams of environmental and underwriting specialists, but it also addressed the complexities of green insurance and supports ACE Green—the company’s broad global commitment to environmental practices through environmentally-friendly products and risk management solutions.”
Launched last spring, ACE Green CPL is a project-specific contractors pollution liability program that supports green construction projects, such as those with Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification. It is designed to provide coverage for a wide range of accidental pollution events and addresses the issue of coverage gaps arising from pollution-related exclusions on a contractor’s Contractors General Liability (CGL) program.
The ACE Green CPL program is available to producers through the ACE Environmental Risk underwriting team. Risk control for these policies includes environmental underwriting assessments by Hygienetics Environmental Services, Inc., an environmental consulting subsidiary of ESIS, Inc., a risk management services company, and part of the ACE Group of Companies. ESIS and Hygienetics also offer a full range of environmental consulting services.
As part of the ACE Green CPL product rollout, the ACE Casualty Risk team also launched a white paper titled: “U.S. Infrastructure: Emerging Trends, Risk Management and Insurance Issues,” examining President Obama’s $787 billion economic stimulus program that spawned a vast number of infrastructure, green and energy-related projects. With billions of projects in the pipeline and time being of the essence, the white paper discusses the complex exposures involving multiple lines of insurance and how risk managers can evaluate their insurance carrier’s ability to respond. This paper explores these risk implications and ACE‘s ability to manage them. To access the white paper, please visit:www.aceusa.com/News/Pages/ACEProgressReports.aspx.
