NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The ACE Group today announced the appointment of Paul Vermeulen as Senior Vice President, International Accident and Health (A&H) Direct Marketing. In this newly created role, Mr. Vermeulen will be responsible for building ACE’s direct marketing business in underdeveloped markets and uncovering opportunities to extend the company’s penetration in more mature markets. He joins ACE from AIG where he was most recently Senior Vice President, Foreign General Insurance Operations, and in charge of A&H strategic initiatives. Mr. Vermeulen will be based in New York and will report to Edward Levin, Executive Vice President, International A&H.

Mr. Vermeulen’s experience in the insurance industry spans more than 25 years. Prior to his most recent assignment, he had been Senior Regional Vice President, A&H, for AIG’s China and Southeast Asia operations based in Shanghai from 2004 to 2008, and served as Regional Vice President for AIG’s A&H businesses in South Africa from 2000 to 2003 and Benelux and Scandinavia from 1992 to 2000. Mr. Vermeulen held increasingly responsible positions in the Belgium group life business of Zurich Financial Services from 1983 to 1992. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Provinciaal Hoger Handels Instituut Hasselt in Belgium.
