ACE to Mark 25th Anniversary with Global Day of Service

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The ACE Group of insurance and reinsurance companies (NYSE: ACE) today announced that the company will observe its 25thanniversary by hosting a Global Day of Service, during which ACE employees in offices around the world will contribute their time to local community service projects.

On Friday, October 22, more than 7,500 employees, or approximately 50% of the company’s global workforce, in 46 countries are expected to participate in more than 200 volunteer projects.

“To commemorate our anniversary, we are extending our appreciation to the communities that have supported us through these past 25 years,” said Evan Greenberg, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ACE Limited. “I want to particularly thank our employees, who believe that insuring progress begins in our own neighborhoods.”

Examples of community service projects around the world in which ACE employees will participate include the following:

Argentina: Employees in Buenos Aires will work with Fundación Leer to help set up a library and reading corner for children.

Bermuda: Employees will participate in demolition and archaeological excavation work as well as cleaning and painting a 30-ton cannon at the National Museum of Bermuda’s Casemate Barracks Project, and will serve as guides and interviewers for students at a career fair at Bermuda College.

Chile: In addition to a previous grant from ACE, employees will travel to a fishing community destroyed by the earthquake earlier this year to assist with construction, cleaning and painting in support of nearly 90 families who lost their belongings and source of income in the disaster.

China: Employees plan to spend the day teaching English to students at the ACE Hope School and Huatai Hope School.

Ecuador: In Quito, volunteers will visit three schools and hold workshops to teach children different ways of recycling.

Germany: Employees in Wiesbaden will work with Erica's Manna Mobil, a local not-for-profit organization, to deliver warm and healthy food in areas where families live below the poverty line.

Indonesia: Employees will volunteer at several orphanages throughout Indonesia, visiting with children, donating needed supplies, such as books, blankets and clothes, and helping rehabilitate one orphanage’s building and playground.

Taiwan: Employees will help coordinate and participate in a blood donation event and promote blood donation through community outreach.

Thailand: Partnering with a local environmental foundation, employees will plant 250 trees near Bangkok and will purchase trees – for a donation to the foundation – to plant at their homes.

United Kingdom: To support a homeless shelter, employees will collect and donate essential items, including groceries, cooking pans, bedding and toiletries, and will assist with decorating and gardening.

United States: Employees in Philadelphia will partner with Habitat for Humanity to fix up two houses for low-income families, among several other activities. In Georgia, employees will join MedShare in sorting and packaging hospital supplies for distribution to developing countries. In Illinois, employees will join in cleaning up and removing buckthorn along the banks of the Des Plaines River. In Delaware, employees will collect donations and fill stockings to be sent during the upcoming holiday season to U.S. soldiers serving overseas.
