ACE to Mark 25th Anniversary with Global Day of Service on October 22
ACE Employees in Philadelphia Region to Help Others in Community Volunteer Projects
Oct 22, 2010

PHILADELPHIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The ACE Group today announced that the company will mark its 25th anniversary by organizing a Global Day of Service on Friday, October 22, during which ACE employees in offices around the world will contribute their time and energy in a variety of local community service projects. In the Philadelphia region, the U.S. headquarters of the ACE Group, hundreds of employees from ACE’s offices in Philadelphia and Wilmington will join forces with dozens of local non-profit organizations to give back to the community.

“ACE is a strong supporter of employee volunteerism in the communities where our employees live and work,” said Brian Dowd, Chairman, Insurance-North America, and Vice Chairman, ACE Limited and ACE Group Holdings. “Through this program, we are expressing our appreciation to the communities that have supported ACE over the past 25 years – and more than 200 years in Philadelphia through our predecessor organizations – joining together by giving back our time and effort in ways that help others.”

Around the world, more than 7,500 ACE employees, or approximately half of the company’s workforce, in 46 countries, are expected to participate in more than 200 volunteer projects.

ACE employees will participate in the following community service projects in Philadelphia and Wilmington:

  • Philabundance Food Bank: Sorting and organizing donated food supplies so that they can be easily packaged into healthy and dietary appropriate food for organizations serving the most vulnerable in need.
  • SHARE (Self Help and Resource Exchange) Food Bank: Providing healthy choices for individuals and families in need, by preparing packages of donated food for the community to consume.

  • McCall Elementary School: Serve as reading coaches to children, and assisting teachers with projects throughout the school, as well as beautifying the spaces in which the children learn.
  • Columbia North YMCA: Organize and sanitize toys and educational materials throughout the five daycare areas. In addition, provide brighter and cleaner educational spaces by painting classrooms, cleaning desks, blackboards and windows, and reorganizing closets.
  • Neighbors in Action: Volunteer projects include graffiti removal, painting, planting, mulching, playground/lot maintenance, and trash cleanup.
  • Greater Philadelphia Scholastic Golf Program: Assist with maintenance and grounds improvement projects at the Walnut Lane Golf Club in Philadelphia, part of the First-Tee Golf Course, a World Golf initiative.
