Evan Greenberg Comments on Transmission of FTA’s to Congress
Oct 5, 2011

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Evan G. Greenberg, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ACE Limited, today provided the following statement regarding the Obama Administration’s announcement that it is transmitting the implementing legislation for the free trade agreements with Korea, Colombia and Panama to Congress.

“Today’s announcement moves us one step closer to the ultimate goal of implementation of these agreements. We hope that Congress will expeditiously consider the U.S.-Korea FTA, along with the pending trade agreements with Colombia and Panama. These agreements should produce significant economic benefits and create good-paying jobs here in the United States. In addition, they will reinforce America’s engagement economically and politically around the world, particularly in Asia and Latin America where great economic opportunities exist today. These agreements will help level the playing field for U.S. companies as many of our major trading partners have already locked in similar trade deals with these key partners. ACE will continue to work with the Administration and Congress to demonstrate the benefits of these agreements and seek Congressional approval.”
