ACE USA Strengthens Midwest Regional Operations
Appoints Adrian Matthews Chief Operating Officer

PHILADELPHIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--ACE USA, the U.S.-based retail operating division of the ACE Group, today announced the appointment of Adrian Matthews as Chief Operating Officer of the Midwest region, which comprises 13 Midwestern states, and includes ACE USA branch offices in Cleveland, Minneapolis and Kansas City. In his new role, Mr. Matthews will assist in developing and executing the regional business plan, and collaborating with clients and their brokers to deliver ACE’s broad spectrum of products and services. Based in Chicago, Mr. Matthews will report to Kelley Kinsella, Senior Vice President & Regional Executive Officer for ACE USA’s Midwest Region.

In addition, Jason Patchen, Vice President, Regional Distribution Manager, will also report to Ms. Kinsella as he continues in his role managing branch operations for the Midwest Region. Based in Kansas City, Mr. Patchen leads the coordinated broker distribution management efforts for ACE’s products and services outside of Chicago throughout the Midwest territory.

With more than 25 years in the insurance arena, Mr. Matthews most recently held the position of Senior Vice President & National Segment Leader of the Midwest region. He previously served as Underwriting Manager, Casualty, and as Business Development Manager for ACE Risk Management, the company’s large-risk division, having joined ACE in 1993. Prior to his tenure with ACE, he served in a casualty supervisory role with a U.S.-based carrier. He began his career in marine claims and commercial underwriting in the London insurance arena. Mr. Matthews holds a Bachelor of Honors degree in English Language and Literature from the University of Leeds, located in England. He is currently a board member of the Midwest Board of the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF).

With more than 17 years in the property and casualty insurance arena, Mr. Patchen has held increasing roles of responsibility within ACE's Midwest Regional Operations team. He joined ACE in 2005 as Kansas City Branch Manager, later serving as Corporate Risk Leader for the Midwest Region in 2009, and maintains both roles today. Prior to his tenure with ACE, he spent ten years working in commercial underwriting and management positions with several U.S.-based carriers. Mr. Patchen holds a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from the University of Kansas.
