ACE Further Strengthens European Claims Management Team
Jan 18, 2013

LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--ACE Group today announced a number of new appointments to its claims management team in its Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region as it continues to invest in building its claims management expertise, particularly in its growing Accident & Health (A&H) division.

Robert Whelan, Claims Manager for A&H in EMEA, has been appointed to the newly-created role of Claims Manager, Consumer Lines for EMEA. Reporting to Peter Murray, Claims Director, EMEA, he will work closely with the management teams of ACE’s A&H and Life divisions to maintain and build upon the service provided to customers of ACE’s consumer lines products throughout the EMEA region. Robert has more than 30 years of experience within ACE and predecessor companies and has previously held claims management roles within A&H and Property. Most recently, he was the European Claims Systems and Process Manager.

Gerry Corry, Assistant A&H Claims Manager, has been promoted to A&H Claims Operations Manager, Europe, reporting to Robert Whelan. In this role, she will share best practice in A&H claims management and provide operational advice to other parts of ACE European Group as well as manage a number of key client and broker relationships. In addition, she will continue to manage the A&H Operational Claims team. Gerry joined ACE in 2011 from esure and has over 20 years of experience of operational claims management.

Mark Shillito has also joined the team as A&H Technical Claims Manager, bringing with him over 20 years of experience in A&H and Life claims, the majority of which was gained at the Aviva group. In this role, he will provide direction on large or complex claims in the UK.

All of these appointments are effective immediately.

In addition, David McNamara, currently Vice President, Claims Operations and Systems, in ACE’s New York office, will join the London-based team on 21 January 2013 as Regional Head of Claims Operations and Systems. He will report to Peter Murray. In this role, he will design, implement and manage consistent processes and systems to facilitate management information and reporting across EMEA Claims.

Peter Murray, Claims Director, EMEA and International Casualty Claims Executive, said:

“Following a number of significant announcements in 2012, primarily focused on the property and casualty business, these latest appointments underline our commitment to claims excellence in our consumer lines business in EMEA, and particularly in our growing A&H segment.”

“Robert and Gerry have both shown a deep understanding of claims operations and service in their business areas and being able to promote from within to fill these key roles is testament to the strength and depth of the team we have built at ACE. We also warmly welcome Mark Shillito and David McNamara to the team, whose expertise will complement our existing capabilities”.
