Combined Insurance Honors Veterans Day
Continues Its Commitment to Military Veterans
Nov 4, 2015

GLENVIEW, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Combined Insurance, a leading provider of individual supplementalaccidentdisabilityhealth, and life insurance products, and an ACE Group company, continues its commitment to hiring our nation’s military servicemen and women and honors Veterans Day by recognizing and remembering all who have served.

Named the number one Military Friendly® Employer for 2015 by G.I. Jobs magazine, Combined Insurance is dedicated to helping our nation’s military veterans and those with a military background find meaningful employment as they transition back into civilian lives. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reports that 240,000 to 360,000 servicemen and women are currently leaving the military each year. According to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, approximately one out of two separating post-9/11 veterans will face a period of unemployment.

Since launching the veteran recruiting program in mid-2010, Combined Insurance has hired more than 2,500 veterans and those with a military background, and plans to hire 2,800 more over the next two years. In 2014 alone, 42 percent of Combined Insurance’s new hires were veterans or had military backgrounds. So far this year, 32 percent of the company’s new hires are veterans or those with military backgrounds. As part of its overall hiring strategy, Combined Insurance is seeking veterans to fill a variety of positions, including sales agents, territory managers, market directors, and administrative and corporate staff positions.

Art Kandarian, retired U.S. Army Colonel, is the Senior Vice President of Business Development, leading military markets, for Combined Insurance. Kandarian states: “Having more than 27 years in the military, I know that there are many veterans today finding it challenging to find meaningful employment. We want to let them know Combined Insurance is actively seeking to hire veterans and those with a military background. We value the traits of those that come from the military—responsible, disciplined, hard-working, determined, and committed to helping others, and our company is willing to go the extra mile to help them onboard and train to make a successful transition.”

Joseph Pennington, retired Navy, National Military Program Manager, at Combined Insurance, said, “What makes our military veteran program unique is that we offer a holistic approach—providing our military veterans with meaningful career opportunities, training, and the support that they need to be successful. We are committed to our military veterans and demonstrate this every day through our military veteran-focused hiring, training, onboarding, mentoring, ongoing development, and our community involvement. Our military veteran initiative is strong, and we will continue to make it even stronger in 2016 and beyond.”

In addition to its focus on a holistic, high quality veteran employment experience, Combined Insurance gives back in both time and money to several veteran charities. Combined Insurance is a proud supporter of Luke’s Wings, the Fisher House Foundation, Snowball Express, and the Wounded Warriors in Action Foundation—giving sizeable donations to those organizations in 2015. Combined Insurance employees have also engaged in several volunteer activities at V.A. hospitals in the Chicagoland area.
