ACE Organizes Its ‘Global Day of Service’ in Singapore
Nov 24, 2015

Singapore — November 23, 2015 — ACE Group observed a Global Day of Service (GDS) on 23 October, across its operations around the world. The initiative involved more than 6,000 ACE employees in 50 countries. Sixty employees from ACE in Singapore and the Regional Office were also actively involved in the GDS activities which comprised an internal charity bazaar on 16 October and an excursion on 23 October with the company’s adopted charity - Child at Street 11, a Childcare Centre that looks after the emotional and educational development of young children, many of whom come from dis advantaged families.

Employees from ACE in Singapore and the Regional Office spent the morning on 23 October by accompanying the children, from Child at Street 11, for an excursion to Bollywood Veggies Singapore. During the excursion, employees and children went on an educational guided farm tour and participated in a hands-on potting session where everyone was able to take home a plant of their own for keepsake.

In mid-October, ACE’s employees also organized an internal charity bazaar to raise funds for the center. Coupled with the sale of furniture and electronics from the recent office relocation, ACE raised S$20,000 for the Center. A cheque for this amount was presented to the center’s representatives during the excursion at Bollywood Veggies. The amount raised will be channeled towards the center’s education and operational costs.

The ACE’s Global Day of Service, a tradition that began in 2005, reflects ACE’s firm belief that positive contributions to communities return long-lasting benefits to society and the company’s employees and business. As ACE’s corporate social responsibility efforts focus on supporting the local communities in which its employees live and work, the various community outreach activities conducted is align with ACE’s overarching philanthropic support for improving education and health, alleviating poverty and saving the environment.

Juan Luis Ortega, Regional President-Asia Pacific, said, “At ACE, we are part of the fabric of the society in which we operate. While insurance is a noble trade in providing a safety net in times of need, we also want to actively extend our assistance to those who are less fortunate. Child at Street 11 has been our adopted charity for some time and we are humbled by what we can do to sustain the educational efforts and operational costs of the Centre”.

Mack Eng, Country President, Singapore, said, “I was heartened to see the active participation and enthusiasm from our colleagues. They exemplified the ‘can do’ attitude by coming together, despite their busy schedules, to organize various stalls to raise funds for the needy. Others came forward to donate generously to the cause. It was extremely fulfilling, knowing that each of us helped to play a part in contributing towards a better future for the children.”
