Karachi – 25 September 2017 – Chubb Insurance Pakistan has today announced several important changes to its leadership team.
Humzah Chaudhri, currently CFO of Chubb Insurance Pakistan Limited, has been appointed as CEO of the company with effect from 1 October. Humzah joined Chubb Pakistan in September 2012, having previously worked with the Royal Bank of Canada in Toronto, Canada. He is a qualified Chartered Accountant.
This follows the appointment of Syed Umer Ali Shah, as Chairman of Chubb Pakistan, which was effective 8 August this year. Umer has previously held the role of CEO of Chubb Pakistan and of Chubb Arabia Cooperative Insurance Company in Saudi Arabia, as well as being a director of both. He has a long and distinguished career with the group, having joined in September 1986. He holds an MBA from the College of Insurance/St. John’s University New York.
Both Humzah and Umer will succeed Zehra Naqvi who is retiring from her post as CEO and Chairman of Chubb Insurance Pakistan Limited. Zehra joined Chubb Group’s Pakistan operation in July 1990 and has acted as its CEO since September 2005, having made a very significant contribution to the company’s progress in that time. Zehra will remain as a director of the company so she can continue her longstanding and valuable contribution to Chubb's business in Pakistan. She holds an MBA from IBA (University of Karachi) and is a Chartered Insurer from the Chartered Insurance Institute UK.
In a further change to the company’s leadership, Mahad Hafeez will be promoted to the role of CFO of Chubb Pakistan with effect from 1 October. Mahad joined the company in June 2015 and is a qualified Chartered Accountant. Prior to joining Chubb, Mahad was working with A.F. Ferguson & Co. (a member firm of PwC Network).
Giles Ward, Regional President, Eurasia & Africa, Chubb said:
“I am delighted that we have been able to make these appointments. The fact that Humzah and Mahad both come from within the business is testament to the strength and depth of talent, knowledge and expertise we have at Chubb Insurance Pakistan. I am very much looking forward to working closely with them in their new roles.
“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Zehra for her achievements as both CEO and Chairman of Chubb Insurance Pakistan. Her dedication and enterprise over almost 30 years with the business has helped grow and develop the company, creating the strong, prosperous and dynamic business we have today. I would also like to congratulate Umer on his appointment as Chairman. Both Umer and Zehra’s continuing involvement on the Board allows us to benefit from their great knowledge and acumen in future.”
