SHANGHAI, Oct. 11, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Chubb launched today a commemorative logo to mark its 120th anniversary of doing business in China.
In 1897, Chubb's predecessor company, Insurance Company of North America (INA), appointed an agent in China, becoming the first US insurance company to commence business in the country. At that time, INA was engaged mainly in marine insurance, providing Chinese clients coverage for marine risks.Today, Chubb provides both commercial and consumer property and casualty products and services to customers through its operations in Beijing, Shanghai, Jiangsu and Guangdong.
The 120th anniversary logo is inspired by the 'Hui ornament (回纹)', a traditional Chinese ornamental pattern with the auspicious meaning of resilience, symbolic of Chubb's long term commitment and confidence in the China market.
The ancient 'Hui ornament' has regular and rigid contours consistent with Chubb's culture of underwriting rigor and discipline. The contours form the figure of '120', representing Chubb's history in China (1897-2017), and in the upper right corner, there is the seal character 年denoting 'years'.
According to Kevin Bogardus, General Manager of Chubb Insurance Company Limited in China, "The commemorative logo is simple, dignified and meaningful. We will be using the logo in a series of upcoming events as we celebrate this exciting occasion with pride. One of our key events taking place soon is a business forum hosted by Evan G. Greenberg, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Chubb Limited."
