February Designated as Heart Health Month
Combined Insurance Joins in Efforts to Raise Awareness of Heart Disease
Feb 14, 2018

CHICAGO, Feb. 14, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- February is a time to wear red and raise awareness about heart disease prevention. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) indicates heart disease is the number one cause of death in the United States for both men and women, and Combined Insurance, a leading provider of individual supplemental accident & health, disability, and life insurance products, and a Chubb company, encourages consumers to evaluate heart disease risk for themselves and loved ones.

According to a 2016 report from the CDC, in the United States:

  • Someone has a heart attack every 34 seconds;
  • Every 60 seconds, someone dies from a heart disease-related event;
  • The direct and indirect costs of heart disease total more than $320 billion, which includes health expenditures and lost productivity.

"It is crucial to raise awareness as to the importance of heart health during February and throughout the year, because it touches the lives of so many throughout the United States," said Holly Waldhoff, Director of Business Development for Combined Insurance.

"We encourage consumers to determine whether a supplemental insurance product might make sense should the unthinkable occur," Waldhoff continued.
