November 10, 2016 – Chubb announced that its general and life insurance operations held their ‘Day of Service’ on 10 November, during which 150 employees from both companies visited Hansarang Maeul in Kwangju City, Kyounggi-do. 

Hansarang Maeul, which is operated by Child Fund of Korea, offers residential care and rehabilitation education services to 110 physically impaired adults and children since it was established in 1988.

Prior to the visit on 10 November, Chubb donated KRW 22 million  to Hansarang Maeul through equal contributions from both general and life operations to purchase rehabilitation equipment as well as sponsored an itinerant petting-zoo for the residents to enjoy. During their visit, Chubb volunteers spent time engaging with residents and also cleaned the facilities.

A tradition which dates back to 2012, the annual Regional Day of Service reflects Chubb’s firm belief that positive contributions to communities return long-lasting benefits to society and the company’s employees and business. Employees across 12 markets in the Asia Pacific region devoted their time to various charitable projects in November. Their community outreach activities focused on two main causes – increasing educational opportunities for underprivileged students, and improving the livelihood for individuals and communities.

Mr. Edward Kopp, Country President of Chubb in Korea, said “I am very honored to have had the opportunity to spend time at Hansarang Maeul.  The residents and volunteers show that anything is possible by caring for others.  It was heart-warming  to see the residents and our employees enjoying the day together.”

Mr. Young-Ho Lee, Country             President of Chubb Life in Korea also commented “It is a great opportunity for us to give back to community, and for our colleagues from both the life and non-life operations to host this meaningful event together, under the new Chubb brand.”
