Chubb promotes Chris Caalsen to the role of Terrorism and Political Violence Underwriter for South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa

Johannesburg, December 7, 2016 - Chubb today announced that Chris Caalsen, Property Underwriter for Chubb in South Africa, has been promoted to the new role of Terrorism and Political Violence Underwriter, as the company continues to build its specialist insurance offering in South and Sub-Saharan Africa.

In his new role, Chris will be responsible for growing Chubb’s terrorism book, following the launch of Terrorism Plus, the company’s market-leading multinational solution for businesses in South Africa with both domestic and international operations. He retains his duties as property underwriter. Chris will continue to be based in Chubb’s Johannesburg office, reporting to James Ison, Head of Property, Energy and Technical Lines with a regional reporting line into Piers Gregory, Terrorism Underwriting Manager, Chubb Overseas General. His appointment is effective immediately.

Chris has twelve years of insurance industry experience and joined Chubb in 2014. Through his various roles he has steadily progressed his career, and is a respected young executive in the South African insurance industry, ranked among the top three in the Insurance Apprentice 2016 competition.
