Chubb launches its upgraded Travel Premier insurance policy and new Travel Smart App, creating a market-leading corporate travel insurance proposition
Jun 28, 2017

Johannesburg – 22 June 2017 - Chubb today announced the launch of the company’s newly enhanced corporate travel insurance policy and associated innovative technology solutions for corporate clients, as it continues to respond to the changing needs of South African business travellers and their employers.

Chubb’s Travel Premier product is a comprehensive insurance proposition covering business travellers for major risks such as medical emergencies, natural disasters and outbreaks of civil unrest as well as personal liability. Cover also extends to everyday events like weather-related travel disruptions and lost luggage.

Key enhancements in the new Travel Premier policy include:

  • New cancellation and curtailment benefits which include cover for ticket upgrades, visa protection and cover for overbooked flights.

  • New collision damage waiver cover for when you need to hire a motor vehicle.

  • Significant limit increases on baggage and general cancellation and curtailment.

  • Updated covers for hospital confinement benefits, including hospital confinement benefits following an emergency evacuation.* (*Daily non-medical expense cover as a result of hospitalisation. This is not a medical scheme and cover is not the same as that of a medical scheme.)

In addition to the significant product enhancements, Chubb has invested in a major upgrade of the company’s online travel insurance administration system. The new Travel Premier platform offers a revised look and user-friendly dashboard along with enhanced user functionality for companies to manage their travel insurance needs and track employee trips.

Moreover, to further enrich its travel insurance proposition and help enable companies better fulfil their duty of care obligations, Chubb has developed a leading and innovative online risk management tool called Travel Smart. This comprises an online dashboard which provides real-time data for HR professionals and risk managers to monitor, locate and communicate with travelling employees. So, in the event of travel disruption or in an emergency such as a natural disaster or terrorist attack, employers are able to quickly identify travelling employees and contact them with appropriate advice. In addition to this, Chubb has created a multipurpose smartphone app for travelling employees which gives access to real-time alert functions, country specific information, and one-touch access to obtain emergency assistance.

Mike de Jong, Head of Accident & Health, Chubb Insurance South Africa said:

“At Chubb we are committed to providing our clients with comprehensive insurance cover that meets their changing needs - this includes keeping our policies up to date with changing regulations such as medical demarcation. Our newly enhanced market leading Travel Premier option delivers our clients with an unrivalled and comprehensive proposition that enables them to fulfil their duty of care obligations.”
