Chubb announced today the appointment of Peter van Ratingen as Head of Consumer Lines for Australia and New Zealand with effect from 1 July. Mr. van Ratingen succeeds Blain Waterford who was recently appointed as Chubb Asia Pacific's Head of Direct Marketing for Consumer Lines.
Mr. van Ratingen will have overall management responsibility for Chubb’s Accident & Health as well as Personal Lines businesses which encompass Direct Marketing, Travel Insurance, Residential, High Net Worth and Specialty Personal Lines. In his new role, he will report to Peter Kelaher, Chubb's Country President for Australia and New Zealand.
Mr. van Ratingen brings with him more than 20 years of industry experience from a career stretching a number of senior management roles across both Asia and Europe. His career includes more than 13 years with CIGNA International, where his last position was Chief Operating Officer for CIGNA’s European Life, Accident & Health Division. Prior to joining Chubb, he was the Regional General Manager at a boutique consultancy specializing in the financial services sector which provided strategic counsel to clients on direct marketing, sales as well as customer acquisition and retention in Asia Pacific. He joined Chubb in 2009 as Country President for Indonesia and was instrumental in growing the general insurance operation. He was appointed as Asia Pacific’s Regional Head of Bancassurance in 2013 where he helped accelerate the expansion of this distribution channel by establishing a number of bank partnerships to access a wider range of customers. Since 2015, he has been Chubb's Country President for the Philippines.
