Louise Hill
Louise Hill's love of design and creativity stems from her upbringing in a family of talented designers. She was surrounded by beautiful textiles and artwork throughout her life.
After graduating from Art School in London in 1990, she specialized in high-end packaging design for over 15 years. Hill worked with clients such as United Distillers (now Diageo), Crabtree & Evelyn, Highgrove (HRH King Charles), Fortnum & Mason's, and Marks & Spencer. The companies she worked for included Butcher & Gundersen, Peter Windett & Associates, M&S, and Ian Logan Design.
During this period, Hill developed a deep appreciation for color, typography, illustration, and intricate artwork. These passions now find expression in her current design venture as a photographic/mixed media artist. Her design background is evident in the meticulous planning and multilayering of each artwork, which incorporates an abundance of intricate detail.
Taking a break from design, Hill embarked on an inspiring journey through Asia with her husband. After freelancing and guest lecturing at RMIT in Melbourne, Australia, for three years, they returned to their home in the "alternative arty" city of Brighton, UK, to welcome the arrival of their twin boys. Seeking their next thrilling adventure, they relocated to Asia, first to Shanghai, then Hong Kong, and now Singapore. Hill’s heart belongs to Asia, as she continues to draw inspiration from the vibrant energy and captivating colors she encounters both at home and during her travels.
Her impressive collection captures the signature cultural “good things” she has encountered on her long artistic journey across Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Singapore.
In her "Hong Kong Neon" print, Hill captures the city's iconic neon signs and street scenes, blending old and new elements with vivid colours to convey urban edginess. Her "Chinoiserie" series blends intricate imagery and traditional Asian aesthetics, weaving together vintage objects and fabrics to create luxurious patterns inspired by traditional Chinese Lattice wooden designs that evoke a unique nostalgic charm of legacy.
Eleanor McColl
Eleanor McColl is a multi-disciplinary artist, based in Hong Kong. She studied Fine Art at U.W.E Bristol, in England and came to Hong Kong in 1999 to pursue her career as an artist and art educator.
McColl’s work is rooted in place with a focus on the urban environment. Her work draws the eye to the often-unnoticed details of the city, casting the "shadows on the wall" of the modern human condition: often solitary, hardworking and hardwearing. Through manipulation of focus, her work explores the delicate points of contact in the otherwise ceaseless blur of the everyday anonymous citizen.
Drawn to the dramatic palate of dilapidation, refurbishment and renewal, her cityscapes explore the interface between Hong Kong's unique verticality and its impact on its people.
McColl’s series of silhouettes titled "Collage - The Zodiac Collection”, depicts the twelve animals of the Chinese zodiac. The artworks feature ripped and spliced black-and-white photographs of Hong Kong's transport, accommodation, and commerce, layered with images of iconic Jardine House. This contrast of ancient time cycles and modern interpretation creates a textured, ageless quality, evoking layered memories. These pieces reflect the vibrant fusion of art, culture, and history that lies at the very core of Hong Kong's "East-meets-West" identity.
Vivian Ho
Vivian Ho is a Hong Kong based artist. She graduated from Wesleyan University with High Honors in Painting and has been painting, drawing and coloring the world ever since. She creates sensory images that redefine aesthetics and address cultural values.
Ho captivates her audiences through large murals that highlight a deep understanding of Hong Kong’s unique history. Through her mastery of imaginative visuals and bold colours, Ho illustrates the concept of legacy by interweaving the unique personal stories of five local Hong Kong people within a single mural. Each narrative embodies a distinct facet of legacy, whether it relates to an individual, a family, a community, or society.
Gianluca Crudele
Gianluca Crudele (Barletta 1989) is an Italian painter and designer based in Hong Kong. He began painting murals on the street walls of his hometown at the age of 15 and later went on to study design in Milan (BA) and Nottingham (MA) before moving to Hong Kong. Expanding from his large-scale murals, his contemplative canvases draw from the energies of various genres and disciplines, from metaphysics to magic realism and Alchemy.
