Chubb Life Thailand Extends the Grace Period for Policy Holders Impacted by Severe Flooding
Ms. Alisa Areepong, Country President, Chubb Life Assurance Public Company Limited (“Chubb Life Thailand”) revealed that in the wake of extensive storm-related flooding that has brought hardship upon the Thai people, the Company is aware of and concerned about the impact on policyholders. Chubb Life Thailand has implemented measures to assist those affected by the floods, aiming to alleviate the burden on policyholders. These measures include extending the grace period for premium payments for policies with premium due dates between August 1st, 2024, and November 30th, 2024. The relief measures are as follows:
- Extension of the grace period for premium payments: The grace period for paying insurance premiums has been extended from the original 31 days to 91 days from the premium due date.
- Reinstatement of lapsed policies: If a policy lapses on the premium due date, and the policyholder requests to reinstate the policy or restore it to its previous status within 6 months, the Company will waive any interest charges and/or waive the requirement for a medical examination for the insured or premium payer.
- Automatic premium payment using surrender value: If the policyholder fails to pay the premium within the extended grace period, and the Company automatically applies the policy's surrender value (if applicable) to pay the premium to keep the policy in force, the Company will waive any interest charges for a period of up to 6 months from the premium due date.
The Company would like to express its heartfelt support to everyone affected by the floods and hopes for a swift return to normalcy.
