GLENVIEW, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Combined Insurance, a leading provider of individual supplemental accident, disability, health and life insurance products, and an ACE Group company, today announced that it has earned the top spot onG.I. Jobs’ 2015 list of top 100 military friendly employers. This is the fourth consecutive year that the company has made the list, the third time in the top 10 and the first time as number one. This is also the first time an Illinois company has won the first place honor during the ranking’s 12 year history.
The Top 100 Military Friendly Employers list, released by Victory Media, publisher of G.I. Jobs, represents the top 2 percent of the more than 5,000 eligible competing companies. Criteria for making the list included the strength of a company’s military recruiting efforts, the percentage of new hires with prior military service, retention efforts, on- boarding and training, and the company’s policies toward National Guard and Reserve service.
“Receiving the number one military friendly employer ranking by G.I. Jobs magazine is a tremendous privilege and we are honored to be recognized for our initiatives to help our nation’s veterans find meaningful employment,” said Brad Bennett, senior vice president, ACE Group; president, Combined Insurance. “But more importantly, not only does it mean we are doing things right, it also means we are doing the right thing and that our commitment to hiring military veterans is a serious one.”
For more than four years, Combined Insurance has been dedicated to helping our nation’s military veterans find meaningful employment as they transition back into their civilian lives. Through its recruiting program, the company has hired more than 1,300 veterans to date, many of whom have made valuable contributions to the company and built successful careers and financially stable lives for themselves and their families. This year alone, 42 percent of Combined Insurance’s new hires have military backgrounds.
“The 2015 military friendly employers represent the preeminent tier of companies with strong military recruitment programs and meaningful job opportunities for transitioning service members and spouses seeking civilian employment,” said Sean Collins, vice president for Victory Media (G.I. Jobs publisher), and a nine-year Navy veteran. “Our military friendly employers constitute the group of companies actually moving the needle and hiring from the military community.”
As it continues its commitment to hire military veterans, Combined Insurance also announced earlier this year that it plans to hire more than 4,000 additional military veterans by the end of 2016 as part of a multi-year overall manpower growth initiative.
To help achieve this goal, the company plans to further leverage its participation in Hiring Our Heroes and use of other military recruiting resources such as the Transition Assistance Program (TAP) and Fleet and Family Support Centers, the Veterans Administration, state representatives and other local veteran organizations, as well as military-specific job sites like vetsuccess.gov.
The 2015 Military Friendly Employer and Military Spouse Friendly Employer is a designation by Victory Media, publisher of G.I. Jobs and Military Spouse. Companies competed for the Military Friendly Employer title by completing a data-driven survey, with data independently tested by Ernst & Young LLP based upon the weightings and methodology established by Victory Media and its Advisory Board.
Now in its 12th year, Military Friendly Employers is the premier resource for transitioning service members and spouses seeking civilian employment. Each year, companies taking the survey are held to a higher standard than the previous year via improved methodology, criteria and weightings developed with the assistance of an Advisory Board consisting of leaders in the military recruitment community.
As a leading supplemental insurance provider, Combined Insurance is rated A+ by the Better Business Bureau, as well as A.M. Best, one of the world’s top insurance rating and information firms. Combined Insurance also has been recognized for five consecutive years as a top performing life-health insurance company on Ward’s 50, a list of the top performing insurance companies that have achieved outstanding results in the areas of safety, consistency and financial performance over a five year period.
