Military Spouse Employment Partnership Welcomes Combined Insurance
Company commits to guaranteeing any veteran or military spouse a job interview
Oct 6, 2017

CHICAGO, Oct. 6, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Combined Insurance, a leading provider of individual supplemental accident, disability, health, and life insurance products, and a Chubb company, is proud to announce its participation in the Department of Defense Military Spouse Employment Partnership.

Bob Wiedower, Vice President of Sales Development and Military Programs at Combined Insurance, signs the Military Spouse Employment Partnership on behalf of the company. Wiedower attended the event at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Building in Washington, D.C. on October 2.

Along with this participation, Combined Insurance also announces that it will grant any veteran or military spouse an interview with the company.

The Military Spouse Employment Partnership is an employment and career partnership connecting military spouses with hundreds of partner employers who have committed to recruit, hire, promote and retain military spouses in portable careers.

Combined Insurance officially joined the Military Spouse Employment Partnership on October 2, 2017, at the annual Induction Ceremony held at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Building, Washington, D.C.  Bob Wiedower, Combined Insurance's Vice President of Sales Development and Military Programs, attended the event. Wiedower is a decorated veteran, having served 22 years in the United States Marine Corps, where he retired as a Squadron Commanding Officer.

"It is an honor to be a part of this great partnership to further align Combined Insurance with the veteran community," Wiedower said. "Furthermore, I am proud to announce that we will guarantee any veteran, military spouse or individual with a military background an interview for a position with our company. We may not be able to guarantee a job, but we will gladly grant these individuals a conversation so that we can learn more about their career goals and see if we have a place in our company where they can achieve them."

In May, Combined Insurance announced plans to hire 2,000 more veterans by the end of 2019 as part of its veteran recruiting program. The company launched the program in 2010, and since 2013, the company has hired 4,200 veterans and their family members.

In addition to providing meaningful employment, Combined Insurance also gives back to military and veteran-focused charities through employee volunteerism and corporate donations. The company has given back and provided support to numerous military and veteran-focused organizations, such as Luke's Wings, The Fisher House Foundation, USO of Illinois, and Heartland Alliance – Support Services for Veteran Families (SSVF).

Combined Insurance was ranked once again as a Top Military Friendly® Employer for 2017 by G.I. Jobs Magazine. This is the sixth consecutive year that Combined Insurance has made the list and third consecutive year in the Top 5; the company was previously named the Number One Military Friendly® Employer in the nation in 2015 and 2016. Combined was also recently ranked a Top Military Spouse Friendly Employer by Military Spouse Magazine for the third year in a row and was recently ranked on the Military Times "Best for Vets" employers list.

The Military Spouse Employment Partnership was launched on June 29, 2011, as part of the White House's Joining Forces Initiative. The partnership is part of the Department of Defense broader Spouse Education and Career Opportunities program, which seeks to reduce the significant unemployment rate and wage gap currently experienced by military spouses when compared to their civilian counterparts.

By joining the Military Spouse Employment Partnership, Combined Insurance is becoming part of an even larger collective effort to support military spouse employment.
